Game 21 vs. Cleveland

This is the way the season ends. The regular season, anyway.

The Royals clinched the AL Central last night. On the plus side, that meant we got to see the official flag go up the pole for the first time. On the minus side, that meant Ned Yost opted to give the A Team the night off. So we got to watch Cleveland trounce the Storm Chasers.

I’m glad the guys got some rest time. But the game really wasn’t much fun to watch. Carlos Carrasco completely shut us down. Two walks and a weak single up the middle were the only things separating him from a perfect game. The closest this came to exciting were the two foul balls that popped into the stands unusually close to us.

And it was Buck Night. And there were no fireworks.

Thank goodness for the postseason. If I’d known it going to go this way, I might have skipped it and driven up to Des Moines the night before the regatta instead of going up the morning of.
