The new tickets are here! The new tickets are here!
Yeah, I know I posted this picture last year. Or one much like it. However, it’s in my portfolio, which also means it shows up on my screen saver and occasionally puts in an appearance as wallpaper. And every time it does so, I miss the ballpark a little more. By the end of last season I was actually a little parked out, so it feels nice to be looking forward to it again.
Not that we’ll have to wait too long. The new tickets arrived today (quite a surprise, as they didn’t show up until early April last year). Our first game is April 12, less than a month away.
Here’s the full schedule:
Friday, April 12 - Blue Jays
Sunday, April 28 - Cleveland - Healthy Kids Day (no sick kids admitted)
Tuesday, April 30 - Rays - Career fair (for Royals players looking for actual jobs)
Friday, May 3 - White Sox - Moron Night
Sunday, May 5 - White Sox - Cooler giveaway / Viva Los Royals
Saturday, May 25 - Angels - Ketchup bobblehead / Faith and Family Day (1:10 start)
Tuesday, June 4 - Twins - T-shirt Tuesday
Sunday, June 9 - Astros - K-State Day
Saturday, June 22 - White Sox - Mustard bobblehead
Wednesday, June 26 - Atlanta
Thursday, July 4 - Cleveland (1:10 start)
Friday, July 19 - Tigers - Celebrity Classic Game / Mizzou Night / Moron Night
Monday, July 22 - Orioles
Wednesday, August 7 - Twins
Sunday, August 11 - Red Sox
Tuesday, August 13 - Marlins - T-shirt Tuesday
Saturday, August 24 - Nationals - Monarchs Vintage T-shirt / Negro Leagues Salute
Tuesday, September 3 - Mariners
Monday, September 16 - Cleveland
Friday, September 20 - Rangers - Futures Night
That omits irrelevant and obvious promotions such as “Frenchy Quarter Thursday” and “Fireworks Friday.” And yes, feel free to substitute “Buck” for “Moron” if you want the official title.
So before I checked the promotions schedule I thought that was a pretty good set. I can’t believe we got stuck with both K-State and Mizzou. Not that I’m super loyal to Snob Hill, but jeez. And hot dog bobbleheads? Do hot dogs even have heads? Before you eat them, do you have to ask “head first or however it comes?” And does having tickets for both ketchup and mustard also oblige us to buy single game seats for relish (July 20)?
If anyone in the audience is inclined to buy a single game in the Cardinals series, there’a a T-shirt give-away on Tuesday, May 28. For my part, the only single game I’m lusting after is Saturday, June 8, my beloved Retro Night (and free powder blue jersey). On Saturday, July 6 they’re giving away Charlie O T-shirts. Maybe if it was Barnum ...
